The Port of Jacksonville has named Tim Murphy, a long-time employee of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Jacksonville, as senior director of the port's new Department of Engineering and Construction.

Murphy has been with the Corps of Engineers for 19 years, most recently as senior project manager of the Corp's navigation team in Jacksonville. He is a registered professional engineer in both Florida and Alabama.

In his position with the port he will oversee long- and short-term project planning, development and management. He will lead all large-scale capital improvement projects, including new terminal development, and will ensure projects are in compliance with engineering codes and regulations.

'Jaxport is moving into an era of unprecedented growth and the demands on our engineering professionals are increasing dramatically,' said Rick Ferrin, the port's executive director. 'Tim and his team will be at the forefront of planning and executing all our future growth projects.'
