Jamaican leader rainmaking in Broward County Jamaican Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller will visit Broward County Thursday and Friday on a whirlwind tour intended to promote investments in her country.
   Simpson Miller, Jamaica's first female prime minister, was elected in February of this year. She is expected to arrive Thursday evening and will attend a private reception, according to a report in the Miami Herald.
   Friday morning, she will be at an invitation-only meeting with international bankers. Friday evening at 6 p.m. she will host a town hall-style meeting at Nova Southeastern University in Davie that is free and open to the public.
   The Herald report noted there are nearly 400,000 Caribbean nationals living in South Florida who collectively are emerging as a political power bloc. Jamaicans living in Florida are credited with influencing Simpson Miller's victory in February.
