Japanese lines restart Asia/Australia link

Japan's big three carriers MOL, NYK and 'K' Line have restarted a Far East/Australia loop, according to American Shipper affiliate ComPair Data.

The lines' AU2 five-ship service has a rotation of Yokohama, Nagoya, Osaka, Pusan, Shanghai, Yantian, Hong Kong, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Yokohama. MOL and NYK each provide two ships, while 'K' Line provides the other. Average vessel capacity is 3,659 TEUs.

This service iteration was effectively ended in May 2009 when the three carriers merged their previously named NEAX service into a similar ANL-led service.
