Jaxport funds access projects

The Jacksonville Port Authority board of directors Monday approved funding for nearly $8 million for port access improvement projects.

A report in the Florida Times-Union said the board voted to accept $5.4 million from the Florida Department of Transportation to build an entry way into the new Mitsui O.S.K Lines terminal now under construction. The state will also provide $700,000 to design two interchanges near the terminal site. The board also agreed to allocate $1.8 million in port funds on the terminal driveway and the turn lane into the driveway.

The terminal access work will provide a connection between New Berlin Road and the new terminal.
