U.S. Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns said the United States has worked closely with Canada to create a trading system that follows the World Organization for Animal Health guidelines for safe beef trade.
“All countries should work toward these guidelines,” Johanns said in a June 29 statement from Geneva. “I will continue our efforts to further open world markets to U.S. beef.”
