“K” LINE GETS LNG CHARTER DEAL FROM STATOIL

“K” LINE GETS LNG CHARTER DEAL FROM STATOIL

   Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, in cooperation with Mitsui & Co., Ltd., have reached an agreement with the energy company Statoil ASA for the long-term time charter of two 140,000-cubic-meter liquefied natural gas carriers.

   “K” Line also entered into shipbuilding contracts for two LNG carriers with Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. and Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd.

   The LNG carriers will be employed for transportation for 20 to 30 years. Statoil will also participate in the ownership of the LNG carriers.
