Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha Ltd. has established a joint ship owning and operating company with Norway's C. H. S'rensen Management AS to invest in offshore support vessels for oil and gas explorations.

The joint venture, 'K' Line Offshore AS, is based in Norway and has ordered two large-sized Anchor Handling Tug and Supply Vessels (AHTS) and four large-sized Platform Supply Vessels (PSV) from Norwegian shipbuilder Aker Yards AS.

'K' Line said it is making the investments as it foresees continuous strong growth in active oil and gas exploration and development that is moving more and more into deeper waters following the higher energy prices of recent years.
