“K” Line orders 10 Panamax boxships from HHI
Tokyo-based shipping company “K” Line has ordered 10 4,500-TEU containerships from South Korean shipyard Hyundai Heavy Industries for an undisclosed amount.Delivery of the ships will begin in 2010 when the Japanese line said it would replace smaller 3,500-TEU ships across its service network.
The dimensions of the vessels in the series are 267 meters (876 feet) long and 35.4 meters (116.1 feet) wide, with a maximum draft of 10.8 meters (35.4 feet). The vessels will have a service speed of 24.1 knots.
