“K” Line sets up energy-shipping arm in Texas

“K” Line’s American organization is setting up a regional energy-shipping arm in Texas.

The Houston-based operation will open July 1, and will target the market for transportation of natural gas involving North America.

“K” Line said the initiative forms part of a policy of promoting regional business activities through the establishment of local bases. The Japanese group also opened an energy-shipping business base in London last year.

North America is the world’s largest consumer of natural gas, and its imports of liquefied natural gas will increase in the future, “K” Line said.

In the United States, “K” Line has been collaborating with the Houston-based engineering company, EnerSea Transport LLC, to develop a compressed natural gas marine transport system.
