“K” Line starts operations at larger Tacoma terminal

International Transportation Service, Inc. (I.T.S.), a member of the “K” Line Group, which operates Husky Terminal and Stevedoring Inc. at the port of Tacoma, has completed its relocation to Terminal 3 and 4, after more than 20 years at Terminal 7D, and will handle the first vessel at the new premises later this week.
In May 2004, I.T.S. reached an agreement with the port of Tacoma to move to the larger Terminal 3 and 4 with approximately 74 acres and four post-Panamax quay cranes allocated along two berths 1,950 feet and 950 feet in length. The 950-foot berth is planned to be extended to 1,200 feet with total acreage expanded to about 93 acres in 2006.
Husky’s former location at Terminal 7D, previously operated with four Panamax quay cranes on about 33 acres.
The 4,000-TEU containership “Verrazano Bridge”, deployed in “K” Line’s weekly transpacific “PNW” service, is scheduled to call at the new terminal Thursday morning, when about 2,800 units of containers are expected to be handled between the vessel and the dock.
