Japanese shipping group 'K' Line said that one of its foreign subsidiaries today took delivery of a 297,351 deadweight ton 'Unimax' ore carrier at the Ariake shipyard of Japan's Universal Shipbuilding Corp.

'K' Line said the 327-meter-long vessel, Grande Progresso, is the first very large ore carrier dedicated for loading at Brazil and unloading at Villanueva, Philippines for JFE Steel Corp.

'We will flexibly and actively respond to the diversifying needs in the transportation of raw material amidst expected future expansion in marine transport triggered by global increase in demand for iron ore,' 'K' Line said in a statement.
