“K” Line, Zim swap slots in Asian trades

   “K” Line and Zim Israel Navigation Co. will start exchanging slots between two of their respective Asian services in May.
   “K” Line said it will take space on the Asia/Pacific Northwest and Asia/Mediterranean legs of Zim’s “AMP” multitrade service. The service has a rotation of Singapore, Shekou, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Busan, Vancouver, Seattle, Busan, Shanghai, Shekou, Hong Kong, Singapore, Haifa, Koper, Venice, Trieste, Piraeus, Haifa, Colombo and Singapore.
   In return, Zim will have slots on 'K' Line's “PNW” Asia/Pacific Northwest loop. This service has a rotation of Yantian, Hong Kong, Kobe, Nagoya, Tokyo, Tacoma, Vancouver, Portland, Tokyo, Nagoya, Kobe and Yantian.
   The slot-exchange agreement, subject to approvals by the regulatory authorities, will allow “K” Line and Zim to offer one more weekly connection between Asian ports and U.S. and Canadian Pacific Northwest ports.
   “K” Line will now provide 13 separate weekly transpacific services in the trade, comprising 12 provided within the CKYH alliance and one under the slot-exchange with Zim.
   Zim also provides multiple West Coast and East Coast transpacific services using its own services and slots taken from partners such as China Shipping Container Lines and Great Western, according to ComPair Data, the global liner-shipping database.
