K + N opens Belarus subsidiary

K + N opens Belarus subsidiary    Swiss logistics giant Kuehne + Nagel has opened a subsidiary in Belarus.
   The office is located in the capital, Minsk. Kuehne + Nagel has served the Belarus market since 1996 with representative offices in Minsk and Brest. The company has focused on customers in the automotive, pharmaceutical, chemical, retail, wood production and power engineering industries, providing truckload, less-than-truckload and consolidation services between Belarus, Europe, Russia and Kazakhstan.
   Air freight is offered through Minsk airport, with containerload and less-than-containerload services from landlocked Belarus offered via the ports of Klaipeda (in Lithuania) and Riga (in Latvia).
   'With its geographical position between Europe, Russia, Kazakhstan and China, Belarus is a strategically important country in which we see an interesting potential,” said Bob Mihok, Kuehne + Nagel regional manager for Eastern Europe, in a statement. “Our own subsidiary will enable us to better integrate the country into our worldwide network and to accelerate our strategic expansion in Eastern Europe.'
