K + N opens French hub for Airbus    Kuehne + Nagel has opened a hub in Montoir-de-Bretagne in western France to handle the entire production logistics of Airbus' manufacturing plants at Nantes and Saint-Nazaire.
   Since 2008, K + N has served as Airbus' exclusive logistics provider in Europe and has provided entire production logistics services to the plane manufacturer's locations in France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom.
   The current K + N operational setup is based on six regional hubs totaling 150,000 square meters and aims to harmonize Airbus' supply chain by integrating smaller facilities, re-engineering processes and lean logistics methods.
   The new 18,800-square-meter facility in Montoir-de-Bretagne is part of the consolidated hub network. K + N's services at this site include ordering, management of inbound flows from suppliers, quality inspections, warehousing of parts, order preparation and delivery of parts to Airbus' manufacturing units at Saint-Nazaire and Nantes. The 3PL also provides value-added services such as kitting and cut-to-size and handles parts inside and between Airbus' facilities in the area.
