Kalmar acquiring Tagros

Kalmar acquiring Tagros Sweden's Kalmar Industries, providers of heavy-duty material handling equipment to ports, has reached an agreement to buy Slovenian service contractor Tagros d.o.o., which provides maintenance of the rolling container handling equipment and industrial forklifts at the Port of Koper.
   Financial details have been withheld by the parties.
   Tagros, established in 1994, has 35 employees and reported net sales of about 2 million euros ($2.6 million) in 2006.
   Zdravko Sirk, one of the company's original founders, will remain for a few months to aid transition, after which Tagros will become a part of the regional organization managed by J'rgen Wurzer, managing director of Kalmar Austria.
   'The acquisition of Tagros presents Kalmar with the opportunity to establish a center for service activities in the Northern Balkan Peninsula. Together with Kalmar Austria, the organization will work to create synergies that benefit the development plans of the Port of Koper and the surrounding regions,' said Kalmar President Christer Granskog.
