Kenco looks into drone technology for warehouse management

The Chattanooga, Tenn.-based logistics services provider has partnered with PINC Solutions to explore the use of drones for the management of warehouse systems and yard operations.

Logistics services provider Kenco has partnered with PINC Solutions, an advanced yard management and supply chain execution solutions provider, to explore the use of drones for the management of warehouse systems and yard operations.
Kenco is leveraging PINC’s advanced yard management platform to provide real-time asset tracking at a facility in the Midwest.
PINC’s core yard management system application was recently implemented by Kenco for a customer in the durable goods industry. The customer is now installing the system across its U.S. network. Kenco plans to partner with the company on its first drone-enabled site once PINC’s drone solution becomes available.
“Kenco wants to use drones for managing real-time data gathering in outside yard operations,” Kenco Innovation Labs Vice President Kristi Montgomery said in a statement. “PINC’s patented RTLS sensor platform captures locations of assets and inventory, and can provide up-to-the-minute information that would allow Kenco to customize and segment yard operations based on customer needs and business rules.”
