KENT LINE, SEABOARD MARINE FORM CARIBBEAN VESSEL-SHARING AGREEMENT

Kent Line International Ltd. of Saint John, News Brunswick, and Miami-based Seaboard Marine have formed a new vessel-sharing agreement linking eastern Canada and U.S. ports to the Caribbean.

In the agreement, Kent Line will operate two 1,000-TEU vessels, the “Kent Express” and “Kent Sprint,” together with the “Seaboard Canada.” These ships will provide weekly, fixed-day service to Philadelphia; Saint John; Miami; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Antigua; Barbados; Trinidad; Rio Haina; Jamaica; and back to Philadelphia.

“The current rate of the Canadian dollar and rising costs in trucking due to fuel increases makes this non-stop Miami service (from Saint John) a very cost effective alternative to the southern United States and points further south,” said Graham J. Fraser, vice president and general manager of Kent Line.
