Kerry Logistics acquires Spanish forwarder

The Hong Kong-based third-party logistics provider has agreed to purchase the freight forwarding business of customs broker and forwarder Bofill & Arnan, the company said in a statement.

   Kerry Logistics Network Ltd. will acquire the freight forwarding business of Barcelona, Spain-based customs broker and forwarder Bofill & Arnan, S.A., the company said in a statement.
   The Hong Kong-based third-party logistics provider said the purchase is part of the company’s global development strategy and will expand its forwarding capabilities in and around Spain.
   Established in 1920, Bofill & Arnan provides air and ocean freight forwarding, customs brokerage and door-to-door logistics services, specializing in the China, Taiwan and India trade lanes.
   As part of the deal, financial terms of which were not disclosed, Kerry Logistics will acquire Bofill & Arnan’s sales force, as well as two offices in Valencia and Alicante in addition to its current facilities in Madrid and Barcelona.
   Thomas Blank, managing director of Kerry Logistics’ Europe division, said the newly acquired forwarding businesses of Bofill & Arnan will be managed by Sebastian Bernardo, Kerry Logistics’ managing director, Spain.
   “Spain is the home to some of the world’s biggest fashion retailers and some of our global key accounts,” the company said of the purchase. “Kerry Logistics will continue to invest in this key market in Europe and strengthen its service capabilities and network, ensuring best-in-class supply chain solutions are provided to its clients, in particular in the fashion and lifestyle industry.”
   “The combined resources and expertise will significantly enhance our position and service capabilities in Spain and expand our market reach,” added Blank.
