Kingston Wharves plans expansion program

Kingston Wharves plans expansion program Kingston Wharves Ltd., which operates a multipurpose terminal adjacent to the Kingston Container Terminal, plans to invest $26 million in an expansion program, according to a report in the Jamaica Observer.
   The improvements would include another 1,250 feet of berth, and the addition of two more Gotwald mobile cranes capable of 24 moves an hour, triple the capacity of existing cranes.
   Company officials said the expansion is part of a long-term strategy in anticipation of more traffic to Jamaica through the Panama Canal.
   Initial work on the expansion is set to begin in May. The Kingston Wharves terminal can handle roll-on/roll-off, lift-on/lift-off, container, and general bulk and breakbulk cargoes.
