Kirk nominated U.S. trade representative
President-elect Obama announced he will nominate former Dallas mayor Ron Kirk to U.S. trade representative.
Kirk is currently a partner for Vinson & Elkins, a Houston-based law firm.
Today's Washington Post said Kirk is expected to carry out Obama's campaign promise to step up enforcement of trade agreements in the areas of labor and environmental protections.
