K+N announces engine-shipping program

   Kuehne + Nagel has unveiled an end-to-end air cargo solution geared toward the transportation of airplane engines.
   KN EngineChain brings together employees who have undergone special training programs with a network of dedicated regional competence centers. The program offers complete visibility throughout the supply chain along with engine-handling processes that have been certified in-house, according to a press release. The firm also offers engine tooling, GPS monitoring and storage options.
   “In the aerospace industry, all technical work is regulated in detail by airworthiness organisations, IATA and others. With regard to engine logistics, however, the regulation wording is quite generic and needs to be aligned with the increasing asset value of aircraft engines. Therefore, Kuehne + Nagel has taken the initiative by designing a tailor-made, dedicated solution with specifically defined and implemented processes and certified staff,” K+N’s Erik Goedhart said in a statement.
