K+N starts Belgium e-commerce system for LEGO

The logistics services provider Kuehne + Nagel Belgium said Monday it has built a logistics e-commerce platform and warehouse management system for the toymaker LEGO Group.
LEGO direct-to-consumer Internet orders are being processed for deliveries in Europe, Australia and New Zealand through the system.
K+N said its 45,000-square-meter facility in Geel, Belgium, will manage Internet sales. The facility can be expanded by another 30,000 square meters if e-commerce demand necessitates. An automated packing machine and sorter has also been installed for these outbound shipments.
“Thanks to the collaboration with Kuehne + Nagel delivery times to our customers are being significantly reduced, as are the logistics costs per delivery,” said Thomas Wischnewski, merchandising and allocation manager for LEGO Direct to Consumer.
