Stute Verkehrs GmbH, a German subsidiary of global forwarding group Kuehne
& Nagel, and Luigi Serra spa, a major Italian forwarding company based in Genoa, are
setting up an automotive logistics joint venture.
To be named Serra Stute Automotive Logistics, the Genoa-based joint venture
will look after the procurement of vehicle components from suppliers all over the world to
the assembly lines of the automotive industry’s production plants.
Stute Verkehrs and Luigi Serra are already involved in automotive forwarding.
Stute Verkehrs’ customers include General Motors, Deutzer Motorenwerke and Volkswagen do
Brazil. Fiat is a major customer of Luigi Serra.
The two companies said that automotive manufacturers are outsourcing their
global supply chain management to external logistics providers.
Luigi Serra recently merged with Merzario, another big Italian forwarder. It
is part of the Serra Merzario Group.
