K+N takes 75% share in NZ’s Cooltainer

K+N takes 75% share in NZÆs Cooltainer    Swiss freight forwarder Kuehne + Nagel will acquire a 75 percent share in New Zealand's Cooltainer, a refrigerated transportation services provider.
   Cooltainer, based in Christchurch, has 45 employees who operate a network of offices throughout New Zealand and Australia. The company provides door-to-door services for temperature-sensitive cargoes, such as fruits, meat, frozen vegetables and meals, in the South Pacific region. It also covers niche markets such as the Trans-Tasman and Pacific Islands trades.
   'New Zealand is of key importance for perishables exports to Australia and the South Pacific Islands,' said Peter Ulber, K+N's executive vice president for sea and air logistics. 'We are very pleased to join forces with Cooltainer to further strengthen our regional market position through this strategically focused product offering.'
   This investment follows K+N's acquisition in January of three South American air freight forwarders specialized in perishables logistics.
