Koch joins McCain campaign Chris Koch is taking a temporary leave of absence as president and chief executive officer of container shipping industry representative World Shipping Council to join the U.S. presidential campaign of Sen. John McCain as policy coordinator.
   Stanley Sher, the WSC’s counsel, will act as interim acting president until Koch’s expected full-time return after the election in November.
   'The WSC is a strong organization, and we are confident that the WSC staff will continue to fully support our members' needs over the next several months,” said Adolf Adrion, WSC chairman, who is also member of the executive board of German carrier Hapag-Lloyd.

   From 1990 to 1993 Koch served as Federal Maritime Commission chairman as an appointee of President George Bush. He came to the FMC after a decade of work in the U.S. Senate, where he held positions as counsel to the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee and the National Ocean Policy Study, and served as chief of staff to Senators Slade Gorton and McCain.
