Korea looks to U.S. beef exporters for cattle age restrictions South Korean officials are urging U.S. beef exporters to not send beef from older cows as the Asian nation opens its doors to U.S. beef.
   Seoul has asked U.S. exporters not to send beef from cattle older than 30 months, as they are considered more at risk of transmitting mad cow disease, the Korea Herald reported Wednesday. The lifting of the beef import ban has been met with resistance from the skeptical Korean public.
   In April, Korea agreed to allow all beef imports from the United States, regardless of age, but then later urged individual exporters to refrain sending beef from older cattle.
   According to the newspaper, Korean Agriculture Minister Chung Woon-chun hinted Tuesday that voluntary limits by major U.S. beef exporters like Tyson Food Inc. and Cargill Inc. could help break the impasse over imports.
