She joins the Fairfax, Va.-based firm after several years on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee's Republican staff, where she helped draft the SAFE Ports Act and was involved in a broad range of homeland security issues.
Kraninger previously served three years in the Department of Homeland Security as deputy assistant secretary for policy, where she directed the Screening Coordination Office, with oversight of the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative and the Transportation Worker Identification Credential. She also was responsible for implementing initiatives related to biometric identification cards and coordinating credentialing standards across various DHS agencies.
She also served as a policy advisor to former DHS Secretary Tom Ridge and before that as a policy advisor on security and legislative affairs at the Department of Transportation.
The firm said Kraninger will increase its expertise on credentialing and identity management.
At Sentinel she reunites with several former DHS colleagues. The firm was founded by Brian Goebel, a former senior advisor to the commissioner of Customs and Border Protection, in 2005. The firm specializes in border and supply chain security, risk assessment, immigration, traveler management, and customs modernization.
