   Kuehne & Nagel International said Dan DeSoto has assumed responsibility for U.S. contract logistics as managing director and executive vice president, reporting to Rolf Altorfer, president of Kuehne & Nagel Inc.
   DeSoto was executive vice president, operations, for Kuehne & Nagel Logistics Inc. and USCO.
   Kuehne & Nagel International acquired USCO in 2001 and rebranded the unit in February as Kuehne & Nagel Logistics.
   The integration brings U.S. international forwarding and contract logistics operations into a management structure that parallels Kuehne & Nagel operations globally, said Klaus Herms, president and CEO of Kuehne & Nagel International AG.
   The contract logistics headquarters of Kuehne & Nagel Inc. will remain in Naugatuck, Conn.
