Long Beach’s August volume fell to 525,929 TEUs, including a 14.2 percent drop in loaded imports to 267,198 TEUs.
Los Angeles’ volume fell 5.3 percent to 723,170 TEUs, while loaded imports fell 5.8 percent to 376,189 TEUs.
Year-to-date, Los Angeles volume is up 0.4 percent to 5.2 million TEUs, while Long Beach throughput is up 2.1 percent to 4.1 million TEUs.
August volume at the Port of Long Beach hasn’t been this low since 2004, with the exception of 2009, when global cargo demand plummeted.
