L.A.-Long Beach Propeller Club donates $20K to seafarers, students The Propeller Club of the Port of Los Angeles-Long Beach have announced two $10,000 donations — one to the International Seafarers' Center in Long Beach and the other to the International Trade Education Program.
   The Seafarers' Center provides amenities to sailors whose vessels are berthed at the two neighboring ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. Theoretically supported by voluntary fees paid by visiting vessels, the center has come to rely on donations in past years to continue providing services such as phones, fax, internet access and travel to local shopping.
   The International Trade Education Program helps prepare economically disadvantaged high school and post high school students for careers in international trade
   The donations were announced Saturday at the Propeller Club's 58th annual black tie dinner. The nearly 70-year-old Propeller Club of the Port of Los Angeles-Long Beach has been a leading local maritime organization in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area. The L.A.-Long Beach chapter is part of the South Pacific Coast Region of the Propeller Club of the United States, which also includes the Port of San Diego and the Port of Honolulu.
