Labrie takes over Con-way Freight

Logistics and transportation provider Con-way Inc. promoted John Labrie to president of its flagship Con-way Freight less-than-truckload unit.

A 17-year company veteran, Labrie was senior vice president of strategy and enterprise operations for Con-way Inc. and before that executive vice president of operations for Con-way Transportation Services, as Con-way Freight was previously named.

From 2002 to 2005, he served as president and chief executive officer of Con-way Western Express, one of Con-way Transportation Services’ three regional LTL companies.

Labrie replaces David McClimon as president of Con-way Freight. Con-way made no mention of the reasons for McClimon’s departure, but the company has suffered declining income for three straight quarters. Con-way Freight’s second quarter operating income decreased 31 percent to $70.3 million.
