Laem Chabang’s TIPs terminal gets two gantry cranes

The TIPS container terminal at the Port of Laem Chabang in Thailand, jointly owned by Japanese shipping lines NYK and MOL, has received two new large gantry cranes from Chinese manufacturer Shanghai Zhenhua Port Machinery Co., Ltd.

The twin-spreader cranes are able to lift two 20-feet containers simultaneously and have a reach of 17 container across, allowing them to handle ships of up to 6,000 TEUs.

The TIPS terminal moved 794,000 TEUs in 2005.
