LaHood gets Senate O.K.
The U.S. Senate on Thursday confirmed Ray LaHood to be secretary of transportation.
The former Illinois congressman takes over a department that must deal with reauthorization bills for aviation, highway and waterway programs as the nation’s transportation network faces severe maintenance, modernization and expansion needs.
The department will also be responsible for doling out a large part of any stimulus bill passed by Congress.
