LANCHILE TO ACQUIRE 767-300 FREIGHTERS

LanChile Airlines said Monday it will double the size of its freighter fleet, by ordering two Boeing 767-300 freighters and leasing an additional 767-300 freighter from GE Capital Aviation Services.

The order, valued at $365 million, is aimed at addressing the airlines expanding U.S./Latin American freight business, which accounts for 40 percent of LanChile's revenue.

Delivery of the aircraft will start in 2001. LanChile operates three 767-300 freighters and a dozen 767-300 passenger airplanes.
