LAWMAKERS FORM CARGO GROUP

A group of U.S. congressional representatives said they've formed a caucus to address the issue of freight movement.

The Goods Movement Caucus, formed by Reps. Juanita Millender-McDonald, D-Calif., and Lincoln Diaz-Balart, R-Fla., is the second discussion group formed on Capitol Hill in recent weeks related to freight. Members recently started a Port Security Caucus.

The Goods Movement Caucus will focus on promoting the economic benefits of an efficient transportation system, congestion mitigation, safety and security, with special attention this year on the reauthorization of the Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century surface transportation-spending plan.

The caucus has 16 members so far.
