Leading Chinese container ports volume up 28% in March

   Throughput of China's 10 leading container ports increased 27.8 percent year on year in March to 10.26 million TEUs. After the first quarter of 2008, volume at the ports was up 18.4 percent to 29.02 million TEUs.

   The leading Chinese ports in terms of container volume in March were:

   1. Shanghai, 2.39 million TEUs.

   2. Shenzhen, 1.71 million TEUs.

   3. Guangzhou, 975,000 TEUs.

   4. Ningbo-Zhoushan, 868,000 TEUs.

   5. Qingdao, 836,000 TEUs.

   6. Tianjin, 692,000 TEUs.

   7. Xiamen, 385,000 TEUs.

   8. Dalian, 357,000 TEUs.

   9. Lianyungang, 230,000 TEUs.

   10. Yingkou, 170,000 TEUs.
