Lines raise Asia-Europe rates

   The liner carriers Hanjin Shipping, CMA CGM and Zim on Monday said they plan to raise rates in the Asia-Europe trade from April 15.
   Hanjin will raise rates by $500 per 20-foot container and $1,000 per 40-foot container from all parts of Asia to all parts of Europe.
   CMA CGM will raise rates by $550 per TEU from all parts of Asia to all parts of Europe. The line said it will also hike rates on services from Northern Europe to India and the Middle East. The increase is $150 per 20-foot container and $200 per 40-foot container to India, and $100 per 20-foot container and $150 per 40-foot container to the Middle East Gulf and Red Sea regions.
   Zim also plans to hike rates by $500 per TEU on all cargo from the Far East to all parts of Europe on April 15.- Eric Johnson
