LLOYD TRIESTINO BUILDS UP COMMERCIAL NETWORK IN NORTH AMERICA

Lloyd Triestino SpA, the Italian shipping line that entered the transpacific trade in August, is building a network of offices and agents in the United States and Canada.

The carrier said that it has appointed Anglo Canadian Shipping Agency as its agent for Canada. Anglo Canadian has offices in Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto.

Lloyd Triestino set up a wholly owned subsidiary, Lloyd Triestino America Corp., based in Morris Plains, N.J., earlier this year. The carrier said that it is now establishing a network of representative offices in the United States. A branch office has been set up in Boise, Idaho, to serve the West Coast. Further offices will be opened in other major U.S. cities.

Lloyd Triestino, owned by the Evergreen group, operates one transpacific service, connecting Asia and the U.S. East Coast. In November, it will add services linking Asia with the North American West Coast.
