Lloyd Triestino launches new intra-Mediterranean service

   Ocean carrier Lloyd Triestino will begin a new regional 'BSS' service in the Mediterranean Aug. 31.

   The BSS routing will connect the ports of Taranto, Piraeus, Gemlik and Haydarpasa in Turkey; Constanta in Romania; Odessa in Ukraine, and Varna in Bulgaria.

   Lloyd Triestino will link these ports through its hub in Taranto with its global deepsea network. Two ships will operate on the weekly service, the 780-TEU 'Adria Bianca' and 692-TEU 'Adria Verde.' The port rotation will be Taranto, Piraeus, Gemlik, Haydarpasa, Constanta, Odessa, Varna, Taranto.

   Those vessels are being transferred to the new intra-Mediterranean service from Lloyd Triestino's IMS service, and will be replaced in the IMS service by the 1,555-TEU sister vessels 'Agiasofia' and 'Vlaherna.' Port rotation for the IMS service will be Taranto, Alexandria, Limassol, Ashdod, Haifa, Mersin, Taranto.
