Long Beach January imports, exports up
The Port of Long Beach said Tuesday its January volume expanded 7.4 percent year-on-year, the second consecutive month of growth for the key U.S. container gateway.
The port handled 428,805 TEUs in January, compared to 399,295 in January 2009. Imports rose 8.6 percent to 217,925 TEUs, while exports rose 27.9 percent to 113,183 TEUs. Empties declined 11.3 percent to 97,697 TEUs.
