Long Beach maritime R&D center receives federal funds A California State University Long Beach transportation research and development collective received $3 million in federal funding in the most recent round of Congressional appropriations.
   The Center for Commercial Deployment of Transportation Technologies — jointly sponsored by the university and the government — deals with maritime-related transportation issues on behalf of commercial and military interests. Established in 1995 to address dual-use issues relating to emerging military maritime technology, the CCDoTT has since added maritime issues of rapid deployment, command and control tools, and programs improving security associated with ocean cargo movements. The center's efforts are now directed towards the military interests and requirements associated with emerging sea basing support systems.
