Long Beach port fills management positions

New port director Jon Slangerup shapes his team with latest appointments.    New Chief Executive Jon Slangerup’s latest recommendations for reorganizing the Port of Long Beach management team were recently approved by the Board of Harbor Commissioners.
Noel Hacegaba, who has been serving as acting deputy executive director and chief operating officer for 15 months, was named managing director of commercial operations/chief commercial officer. Prior to his 2013 appointment, Hacegaba was executive officer to the Harbor Commissioners.
The newly created Commercial Operations Bureau, now overseen by Hacegaba, includes the Business Development, Security Services, and Tenant Services & Operations divisions. He serves as the primary liaison to the port’s customers.
Sean Gamettee was named senior director of program delivery/chief harbor engineer, taking full control of a position he held on an acting basis since last year. Gamette joined the port authority in 2003.
Roger Wu has been promoted to the new position of assistant director of business development. He was manager of commercial trade – ocean carriers for the past four months and prior to that was marketing manager for seven years.
Eamonn Killen, a senior port leasing officer, was named assistant director of real estate, to succeed Gail Wasil, who retired in August.
Slangerup took office last summer after a long career running transportation and clean energy companies.
