Long Beach seeking comments on bridge replacement

Long Beach seeking comments on bridge replacement

The Port of Long Beach said Tuesday it is seeking comment on a proposed replacement for the Schuyler Heim Bridge, which links Terminal Island, in both Long Beach and the neighboring Port of Los Angeles, with the mainland across a navigation channel.

The California Department of Transportation is responsible for the project, the second of two bridge replacement projects affecting the port. Long Beach is also undertaking the replacement of the larger Gerald Desmond Bridge, which links Terminal Island to downtown Long Beach in an east-west direction. The Heim Bridge runs in a north-south orientation.

The report is available here, while comments should be directed, before July 7, by e-mail, [email protected], or mail to Richard Cameron, Port of Long Beach, 925 Harbor Plaza, Long Beach, CA 90802.
