Los Angeles port in emergency session about P&O Nedlloyd legal case

The Los Angeles harbor commissioners held an emergency closed-door session yesterday to review a legal action taken by P&O Nedlloyd against the port over a dispute concerning bids for terminal leases.

The Netherlands-registered shipping line, which issued a legal writ against the port of Los Angeles, said that it wants the original terms of a first round of proposals to stand.

After inviting bids for leases, the Californian port canceled its original request for proposals and started a new bid process under different terms.

P&O Nedlloyd was one of the bidders in the first round of proposals. Its bid and those of others have been shelved under the port’s latest procedures.
