Lufthansa Cargo starts using two-tier truck

Lufthansa Cargo starts using two-tier truck    German airline Lufthansa Cargo today started using a two-tier truck on its road feeder service between Munich and Milan, Italy.
   The airline said the truck can accommodate up to seven pallets depending on the size and makeup of the palletized freight, raising per-trip capacity by up to 75 percent. It is also equipped with a unique automatic lifting system.
   Lufthansa Cargo and FSKey, part of the haulage contractor and handling agent Freschi & Schiavoni Group, took about two years to develop the prototype.
   “In operation, the new truck reduces the number of trips required for cargo transportation. That way, Lufthansa Cargo is lowering traffic volume on the roads and making an active contribution towards environmental protection,” the airline said.
