Lufthansa offers discount air cargo product

The German cargo airline revealed its new product Tuesday for customers with price-sensitive goods.    German airline Lufthansa Cargo unveiled a new discount air product for customers with price-sensitive goods in response to a mix of persistent volume stagnation and industry overcapacity, the airline said.
   Lufthansa’s “td.Pro” has been the airline’s standard air shipment offering, with premium offerings for express shipments, along with shipments requiring special handling, such as perishables, live animals or jewelry.
   The new “td.Basic” will be available starting in September.
   The new offering, which will be available from September 2016, is being made possible by simpler background processes, booking strictly through the cargo airline’s online channels and only at the cost of a somewhat longer duration for customers willing to accept a transit time of three days or more on average than the familiar td.Pro, Lufthansa said.
