Lufthansa’s cargo flat after nine months

Lufthansa Cargo transported 1.27 million tons of freight and mail during the first nine months of this year, roughly the same that German airline carried during the same period last year.

The airline said its cargo capacity increased by 2.7 percent due to additional belly space available on passenger planes, causing its cargo load factor to slip by 2.2 percentage points to 64 percent.

Long-time number one carrier Lufthansa was last year overtaken by Korean Air Cargo as the world’s top airfreight mover.
