MacAndrews uses 45-foot reefer containers for Spanish market

MacAndrews, a European short-sea carrier owned by French carrier group CMA CGM, has introduced new 45-foot pallet-wide reefer containers on its twice-weekly service between Spain and the United Kingdom and Ireland.

The containers will also be used on MacAndrews’ weekly Felixstowe, Rotterdam, Bilbao service during October, to coincide with the start of the Spanish fresh produce season.

“With the increased cubic capacity of the new 45-foot containers we will be able to compete far more effectively against road-borne cargo,” said Mark Copsey, MacAndrews’ Iberian trade manager. “We have established a viable alternative short-sea option for our customers and we anticipate gaining an increased share of this market in the near future.”
