Macquarie bids for Montreal terminal
Macquarie Bank is bidding for the Montreal Gateway Terminals owned by Hapag-Lloyd's parent company TUI AG, Canadian newspapers say.
Hapag Lloyd's parent TUI AG said in December it planned to sell a harbor terminal in Montreal. The Cast and Racine terminals in Montreal were acquired as part of Hapag-Lloyd's 2005 purchase of CP Ships.
The Montreal Gazette said Macquarie would not comment on a possible deal, but quoted a Hapag-Lloyd spokesman as identifying Macquarie as being one of the companies it is in negotiations with over a terminal sale.
In November, Macquarie made an agreement to acquire the Halterm container terminal in Halifax.
