Maersk adds Gdansk to major Asia/Europe service    Maersk Line said it is adding a call at the Polish port of Gdansk to the AE10 leg of its mammoth double butterfly AE1/AE10 service between Asia and Europe.
   According to ComPair Data, the AE10 starts in Ningbo and runs through to Gothenburg and Aarhus in Europe, before returning to Japan. The AE1 then takes over, connecting from Japan to North Europe and back to Ningbo, where AE10 begins again.
   The call at Gdansk will replace a call at the French port of Dunkirk, but will create “the first direct connection between China/Southeast Asia and Poland,” the line said.
   The service is operated with 19 8,500-TEU ships with a double-leg rotation time of 133 days. The Gdansk call is only made on the AE10 leg, inbound between Zeebrugge and Gothenburg.
   Earlier this week, Maersk said it was adding an eastbound call at Jebel Ali on the AE1 leg of the service to partially compensate for the pending suspension of its ME3 service between the Indian Subcontinent and Mediterranean.
